With all the on-site facilities you could wish for, Edge Hill's campus combines original buildings and landscaped gardens from the 1930's with new buildings and up-to-date facilities. Whether you are studying quietly in the Learning Resource Centre, enjoying a game of pool with friends in the venue, strolling around the lake or working out in our fully equipped fitness suite, there's something to suit everyone, all on one site.

Edge Hill's main campus is spacious, modern and exceptionally well-equipped. Following the opening of the £9 million Faculty of Education in September 2004, our latest development is for performing arts, adding to the on-site Rose Theatre with rehearsal rooms, practice studios, new classrooms and offices.

We believe our campus to be the best in the North West. Our industry standard resources include a newsroom, Apple Macintosh studios, TV studio and video editing facilities, sound booths, 3D animation studio, dance studio, model classroom and biomechanics, kinanthropomentry and psychology laboratories.

Edge Hill offers innovative, career-focused degree courses, accredited by Lancaster University and many endorsed by industry bodies. Its programmes combine academic and vocational excellence and Edge Hill has just been selected as a National Centre of Excellence for Learning and Teaching.

Over 500 courses are on offer to visiting students at Edge Hill across the range of liberal arts. Subject areas offering courses are Business, Management and Leisure; Computing & Information Systems; English Language, Literature, Creative Writing & Film Studies; History; Law & Criminology; Media; Natural Geographical & Applied Sciences; Performing Arts; Social and Psychological Sciences; Sport & Physical Activity; and Education. Courses are set at three levels from Sophomore to Senior and visiting students join classes attended by British undergraduate students. There is also the opportunity to undertake a field experience in education.

Academic Highlights

All courses are taught by Edge Hill faculty and American students are integrated with British students in the classroom. Nearly all the courses offered in the Edge Hill University curriculum are open to CCIS students.

All courses carry three academic credits and students will take 4 courses each semester. Selections are reviewed by the academic coordinator at Edge Hill prior to departure. During the semester, the coordinator will monitor your performance to ensure that you have a successful academic experience.

A special feature of the Edge Hill Program is the Field Experience in Education. This program provides opportunities for students to take some study abroad courses and observe classes in a British school.

 

Student Life

Studying in a foreign country is a life changing opportunity, offering interesting challenges. Edge Hill's extensive support for study abroad students helps to ensure that you are able to greet those challenges positively, enhancing your experience. Edge Hill has a relatively small number of students from overseas on campus which means they receive a special welcome and an authentic experience of English higher education. All Edge Hill's study abroad students live on campus, in the dorms with British students and receive a meal plan for on-campus dining, to ensure maximum opportunity to discover what it is really like to be a student in UK higher education. And don't expect the room next door to have an American occupant - at Edge Hill we always try to ensure that US students are well-mixed in with the British!

When you aren't studying there are a variety of activities on campus to keep you occupied. If you enjoy sports, the 25-acre Sporting Edge offers some of the best facilities in British higher education. A well equipped fitness centre, tennis courts, multicourts, hockey pitches, athletics track, indoor sports centre and top quality grass pitches form the basis of the sports facilities, supported by a heated indoor swimming pool and double gymnasium. Edge Hill's athletics union also successfully participates in a wide range of intervarsity sports - including soccer of course! The college club, The Venue is the hub of student social life on campus: theme nights, quizzes, karaoke, live bands, snooker, satellite TV and a bar are all on offer under one roof. You can guarantee that there is always something happening there! Our own on-site theatre, The Rose, is a favourite of visiting professional theatre and dance companies with about 40 shows each year from Shakespeare to stand-up comedy.

Housing

Students are housed on campus in dorms and the cost includes a meal plan.  Additional money for food is required.

Eligibility Requirements

Students must have completed at least 12 semester credits at time of application with at 2.75 GPA or better or a 4.0 scale. Must be 18 years old by the first day of the semester

Costs

Fall and Spring: $11,486 (CCIS Members)   $11,786 (Non CCIS Members)                 

Truman requires a $300 deposit, deducted from total amount due, upon acceptance to the program, but does not have an application fee.

Students will be liable for 25% of tuition costs if they withdraw 30 days prior to departure date.  After departure, but prior to the first day of classes:  50%.

Start the CCIS Study Abroad application process by downloading the forms. To download, right click on the application or recommendation form and click "save as", then save the form to your desktop or downloads. Once you have completed your form, SAVE IT FIRST!!!! DO NOT CLICK "SUBMIT" until you have SAVED your form or the recipient will receive a BLANK form. Once you have saved it, click "submit" and THEN email your completed form as an attachment to the contact email address associated with the program in which you are applying. If for some reason you do not see the email address pop up when you click "submit", then email the application to the program sponsor listed here on this page.
