The NUI Maynooth is Ireland's second oldest university institution and traces its origins to the foundation of St. Patrick's College in 1795. Situated 25km west of Dublin, it is located in Ireland's only university town, Maynooth, which combines the historical legacy of its medieval origins with a present day location just outside Dublin city. NUI Maynooth has a long standing international reputation for learning and academic excellent in the sciences an humanities. Its traditional core strengths have been augmented by new courses in Finance, Computer Science, Software Engineering and Electronic Engineering. Its reputation for research continues to grow and today there are several renowned research centre located on campus.

Course Offerings

Students may select courses from the general curriculum of Maynooth. These courses are chosen from the following departments; Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Literature, History, Greek and Roman Civilization, Philosophy, Theology, Sociology, Music, English, Business, Media, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, Students choose their courses from these departments once they arrive on campus. Interested students should have at least sophomore standing and a GPA of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale or higher, in addition to transcripts and three letters of recommendation.

Academic Highlights

NUI Maynooth is committed to providing an environment within which students can learn, develop and mature. The focus is on ensuring that all students have an experience that will benefit them not just academically, but personally as well, and that the environment is truly student-friendly. The ongoing program of investment in developing new courses, and in providing world-class teaching and research facilities, is one part of the equation. Another equally important part is the ongoing investment in expending and supporting student social and recitation facilities, and in particular in providing the necessary support for all students throughout their academic career.

 

Student Life

Over fifty clubs and societies are active in NUI Maynooth, providing many opportunities for students to get involved in social, cultural, and sporting activities. Student-run clubs form the core of the sports and recreation programmes. The clubs and societies bring the Campus to life in the evenings with events to suit everyone. The indoor sports hall and fully-equipped gymnasium accommodate a wide variety of indoor sporting activities including badminton, basketball, fencing, karate and racquet-ball. The sports hall is also the venue for the weekly aerobics and circuit training sessions. The University has a swimming pool as well as numerous playing fields which cater to outdoor sports such as hurling, soccer, camogie and rugby. The Canoe & Kayak Club make good use of the nearby River Liffey. There are a wide range of societies managed by students such as political parties, art, craft and design, comedy, music, drama, games and history. There is also a very active internationals students’ society that arranges social evenings and events for students.

Housing

Students are placed in campus housing. Apartments are six-person units that integrate American, Irish, and other students. Rooms are single occupancy with shared living and kitchen space. Bedroom spaces are en-suite. The College's facilities include a gymnasium, weight room, playing fields, a student union, swimming pool, along with more than 50 clubs and organizations.

$10,500 CCIS members

$10,800 non-CCIS members

Truman requires a $300 deposit, deducted from total amount due, upon acceptance to the program, but does not have an application fee.

Estimated:  Passport, Irish immigration fees ($200), room /board ($1,800-7000), books ($300), airfare ($1,000), and personal expenses ($2,500).

How do I apply?

Start the CCIS Study Abroad application process by downloading the forms. To download, right click on the application or recommendation form and click "save as", then save the form to your desktop or downloads. Once you have completed your form, SAVE IT FIRST!!!! DO NOT CLICK "SUBMIT" until you have SAVED your form or the recipient will receive a BLANK form. Once you have saved it, click "submit" and THEN email your completed form as an attachment to the contact email address associated with the program in which you are applying. If for some reason you do not see the email address pop up when you click "submit", then email the application to the program sponsor listed here on this page.

YOU MUST NOTIFY YOUR HOME INSTITUTIONS' STUDY ABROAD OFFICE OR ADVISOR OF YOUR INTENTIONS AND ALSO PROVIDE THEM WITH A COPY OF YOUR APPLICATION.
